IWP Italian Wedding Planners (part of the Sposiamovi group) designed a bespoke experience on September 6, 2024, at Villa Mon Repos, blending the venue’s historic gravitas with a fresh, editorial aesthetic.

The wedding was a masterclass in “Stealth Wealth,” where the grandeur of the architecture was complemented by a highly curated, sophisticated design that prioritized quality and authentic Sicilian soul.

The Setting: An Icon Above Isola Bella

Villa Mon Repos is one of Taormina’s most legendary estates. Situated on a ridge overlooking the breathtaking Isola Bella, the villa served as the town’s first casino and has hosted the most exclusive parties in Sicilian history. For American couples seeking a “Sea View” wedding with architectural depth, this venue is unparalleled. Its white-washed facades and lush botanical gardens offer a sense of “Old World” luxury that is both private and immensely grand.

The symbolic ceremony was held on the villa’s panoramic terrace. As the notes of the Dammen Quartet’s solo violin drifted over the bay, Nicole and Alexander exchanged vows in a setting that felt suspended between the sky and the Mediterranean.

The creative direction was guided by the principle of “Architectural Elegance,” utilizing the villa’s geometry to frame the celebration.

• The Floral Narrative: Intrecci di Fiori e d’arte executed a concept that acted as a bridge between nature and art. The floral design moved away from traditional clusters in favor of sculptural, airy arrangements that highlighted the villa’s historic loggias. The palette was a sophisticated mix of botanical textures that reflected the late-summer Sicilian light.
• The Beauty Brief: Tannaz Beauty Bar curated a look for Nicole that was the epitome of “Modern Luminous”—a timeless, elegant style designed to transition seamlessly from the romantic terrace ceremony to the high-energy evening party.
• The Atmosphere of Light: Lion Service Group designed a lighting scheme that was both dramatic and precise. As night fell over Taormina, the villa was transformed into a glowing jewel, with the architectural lines of the estate illuminated to create a high-fashion, cinematic backdrop for the evening gala.

Gastronomy & The Soundtrack of Taormina

A wedding in Taormina is a multi-sensory journey. The culinary experience, served in the villa’s grand spaces, was a tribute to Sicilian excellence, reimagined with the precision of a high-end international event.

• The Soundscape: The energy was meticulously paced. From the emotional strings of the Dammen Quartet to the high-octane performance of DJ Denis Conti, the soundtrack was designed to evolve with the evening, turning the historic estate into the coast’s most exclusive lounge.
• The Cinematic Legacy: Giulio Cantarella provided the cinematography, utilizing an editorial, cinematic approach that captured the raw emotion and the grand scale of the Taormina landscape into a world-class film legacy.
